Attention!! I Noted Your Comments and Answered
First of all, I would like to thank you for your comments in this blog. I have taken time to read the comments in order to understand you better, I must say there are a lot of good things you said about this blog. I am humbled by your response as I was not sure how people were going to receive this blog when I started it and your feedback has given me courage to do better. I will address all the issues that came out in the comments for the benefit of all. I noted that questions covered a lot of issues from blogging, personal development and to technical issues about website maintenance. Here are the issues you raised:
Issue no 1: How can you use this blog?
This may sound like an obvious question but sometimes I note that people are not using the blog to the fullest. Here are suggestions: (1) Read the topic and find out whether the topic speaks to you or not. (2) If the topic does speak to you then ask yourself this question: Why? Please take time to do soul searching as this will help a great way. Thinking about this question may give an indication about areas of improvement or upliftment in your life. (3) Sometimes we need other people in order to help ourselves to grow. Involving other people may result in finding a “win-win” situation which in turn creates a good environment to learn and to be happy.
Here is an example: Let say in your family you are struggling with relationships, would it not be wise to share that article that deals with relationships with your family? You can then follow up by asking questions like: “What is your take (view/opinion) about this article?” This will open up a discussion that could have been difficult to initiate under normal circumstances. I hope this share a little light.
(4) If the article speaks to your challenges, read it again and again until it becomes your common sense, in other words “internalise” it. Let it be part of your vocab. This is how you will change your mindset, then your attitude, then your behaviour, then your character, and finally, your destiny. Our destiny is the product of our thinking. Do you get this? I wish you could because this is where many people fall on their stomach in the quest to change their ways.
Issue no 2: Updates
Based on what you raised, I did some minor changes to this blog. By looking at the left hand side of the blog, you will notice there are options there. (1) You can share the blog by clicking any of the social icons there to spread the good news. I did this to make it easy for anyone who want to share this information and please do share the contents for the benefit of your friends and family. (2) You can follow me on twitter, face book page and LinkedIn using this blog. Please note that I have not been very active there but I plan to do more in future.
I will address the issue of RSS feeds as it has been raised in some of the comments. I will also give links for products that can be of help to supplement articles or questions raised in this blog. All links that you will find in this site are those of products/ individuals/companies that I trust and later I will introduce other bloggers who deal with the same topic for your information. I have been watching what is happening online for a long time such that I know who is a real deal or not.
Issue no 3: Spamming policy for this blog
I have noted there are people who are spamming this blog. Those who are doing so must refrain from that practice. I appreciate genuine comments but spamming is not the way to deal with online communities. If you are hoping to build a business by spamming other sites then you are not doing yourself any favour. If you want to advertise there are many methods outside there that are effective and less expensive for that matter. Comments that are not adding value or adverts will be deleted and blocked. We need to keep this blog clean for all of us to be able to focus on issues of personal development/self improvement and nothing else.
Issue no 4: What does it take to be a successful blogger?
To be honest with you, you need to love something about this life to be able to run a successful blog. Things you can love include sports, gardening, cars, religion and fashion to mention but a few. What is it that you love so much? You do not need to be an expert initially in the topic that you love as your interest will lead you to read and find out more about that topic. In the process you will learn a lot. After that you can share your views/ideas about the topic that you are passionate about.
Remember, you may be able to explain difficult concepts in a manner that is unique and be helpful to many people because of your unique talent. There is no one who is your exact copy just remember that. Making the difference to the lives of others is key to happiness and not money as many may think. Yes, we need money to live a comfortable life but money is not everything in this world. This is my personal belief. If you want to be a blogger, you can be one depending on how much you love it. It is simple as that!
For those who wanted guides about blogging I have included a simple guide: How to start a blog in 5 steps.
Download the guide here.
Issue no 5: What is the role of professional writers?
In my view professional writers are an option if you cannot write or have no time to do so but would like to express your views to all. Even so, you need to know about the topic yourself to be able to use them effectively. I have seen people who have a number of blogs for different niches using professional writers. I prefer doing one thing that I feel comfortable with rather than trying to do everything and not be good in anything. Writers are not a substitute for a lack of insight on your part. They can also be very expensive unless you are running a business that is able to justify the costs for having writers. The implication here is that you need to know clearly why you want them and how are they going to help you achieve your goal.
Issue no 6: Are there any other blogs with similar content online?
Yes, the internet is big if you search you will eventually come across other good bloggers in this topic. I will also place banners in the articles from other people who are dealing with similar topics. Note that they may be selling products that are addressing the issues you may have and you may need to get that information through your email. There will be good information there as well given for free. I will also allow selected guests to post and you will be able to see their blogs but I will make sure they offer good content first to avoid wasting your time.
This blog does not offer everything you have to know about personal development. I believe that after reading my posts you should be in a position to understand better what you need as an individual. You can then take an informed decision when buying any product because there are many experts out there making excellent products. Anyone serious about his/her personal growth will at some point invest in personal development products. I have bought books and I have attended workshops to get all the help I needed and I do not regret that. Check the article: “Self Improvement tools available today” and you will find a list there.
Issue no 7: Website issues
There are a lot of issues when it comes to website hosting. I am not an expert on that except that I have learned a lot since I have this blog. One thing I noted is that hosting companies tend to offer a lot of services to website owners. Services include buying a domain name, installation of Word Press & themes, buying plugins, and many other issues. My focus currently is on this site and because of that I cannot go into details in this topic. I hope I have answered the comments in an acceptable manner.
I suggest you look at the notes that I prepared to give you an idea. Download the notes here.
I wish you all the best for 2018 to be a year of improvement in your lives.
